Benefits of speed cameras
Speed cameras do save lives.
That's from Hampshire's Safer Roads Partnership this afternoon.
They've been telling us about a fall in the number of people who have been hurt or even killed in an accident.
They say where there is a camera there's been a fifty per cent drop in the amount of people hurt.

Whitchurch Station's ticket office could be closed at weekends under new plans.
South West Trains are planning to make more changes to opening hours across the region.
We've already seen reduced opening hours at many stations in North Hampshire.

It's getting harder for underage teenagers to walk into a shop in Hampshire to buy cigarettes
That's from our Trading Standards teams here after carrying out more bogus sales tests, they found only one in ten shopkeepers allowed an underage sale.
That's compared to a quarter they tested last year.

Totton - man appears in court
After appearing in court this morning a Hampshire man remains in custody
21 year old Anthony Marsh from Totton appeared at Winchester Crown Court earlier.
He was arrested on suspicion of murder after the bodies of Stephanie Bellinger and her daughter were discovered in Totton earlier this month.
He's now due to appear in court again on May the 21st to enter a plea and for case management.

You're getting the chance to look at and comment on the plans at the Vyne School from four, today and tomorrow.
The council says the whole site was proposed for houses and flats - but they're looking at other options after hearing from concerned residents.

Woman stabbed in her own home
A woman's been stabbed in Basingstoke
It happened at her home in St Michael's Road at three on Sunday morning.
Police say they don't think this was a random attack, and they think she was targetted.
She's currently at the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital in a stable condition.

Car hits Basingstoke club
A car's driven into the side of the Wote Street Club.
Police say it went through a barrier at the car park at the back of the building.
The building and car have been damaged, but we've been told no-one's hurt.

The mobile police van's out and about today and every Monday if you've got anything you want to talk about.

Charities in Hampshire could lose out on £350,000.
It's how much the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation needs to raise by the end of the month so they can get the same amount back from the government.
The Basingstoke Breast Cancer Self-Help Group and the First Responders are among the groups round here they've helped.

Schoolgirl traumatised by 'indecent act'
A twelve year old girl walking home from school's been left traumatised after being approached by a man near the Brighton Hill Roundabout.
He called out to her, and she saw he was committing what police are calling 'an indecent act'.
It happened on Monday at the underpass - the girl recognised the man as someone she'd seen there before.
He's in his late teens and was wearing a blue tracksuit and flat cap.

The emergency angioplasty (pron: AN-gio-plasty) unit at the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital's getting new x-ray equipment.
The service has helped save over a hundred lives since it was launched a year ago.

Stephanie Bellinger and baby Lili were found at their home in Totton in Hampshire on Saturday morning.
They had been stabbed.
21-year old unemployed Anthony Marsh didn't enter a plea - he's next due at Winchester Crown Court next week.
